Saatchi Presents: Rising Stars 2023

The William Vale is proud to present a special exhibition of Saatchi Art’s class of 2023 Rising Stars. For over a decade, Saatchi Art curators have published their definitive list of recent art school graduates and up-and-coming artists creating some of the most compelling artwork today—appropriately named Rising Stars. Many of these trailblazing talents expand on the legacies of the art history canon or defy tradition with new technologies that redefine beloved mediums. Some probe the present, others bridge the past to provide a nuanced look into contemporary life. They all offer a glimpse into the future of art.

Vietnamese painter Ha Hoang-Lamy’s restrained palettes and minimalist mark-making represent meditations on the shared human experience. While self-taught artist Dylan Bardoe takes to experimental mixed media approaches for a psychedelic walk through pop culture and dystopian living. Painters Oluwafemi Afolabi and Monika Morito pay homage to their respective homelands, weaving culturally significant motifs into their works to celebrate identity. Through realism and humor, Ray Madrigal takes a candid and heartfelt look into queerness and healing.
